Queensland rally for slain Kiwi

NZ NewswireNZ Newswire 6/04/2016

Anti-violence campaigners will hold a rally in Brisbane in the name of two women, one a New Zealander, who were allegedly killed in domestic violence incidents within days of each another.

Sandra Peniamina suffered multiple stab wounds and died on the driveway of her suburban home at Kippa-Ring, near Redcliffe last Thursday.

The 29-year-old New Zealand woman's children, aged between five and 10, were believed to be sleeping in the home when the alleged stabbing attack took place.

Her 35-year-old husband Arona, also a New Zealand citizen, was charged with murder at a bedside hearing at Redcliffe Hospital on Friday before undergoing surgery for hand injuries.

Four days later Michelle Reynolds, 46, was found dead in a bedroom of her house at Rosewood, near Ipswich.

Her partner, 47-year-old Wayne Ashley O'Sullivan, has been charged with murder.

The Domestic Violence Death Review Action Group has organised a rally in Brisbane's CBD to remember the two women on Thursday.

Supporters have been asked to wear black and bringing red roses.
