Rain on Canes parade forces postponement

NZ Newswire logoNZ Newswire 8/08/2016

Forecast wet weather has forced the postponement of the victory parade for newly-crowned Super Rugby champions the Hurricanes.

The Wellington City Council-organised event was originally scheduled for Tuesday but will now been held on Wednesday, when the skies over the capital are expected to be clear and sunny.

The Hurricanes beat South African opponents the Lions 20-3 on Saturday night to become the last of the five New Zealand franchises to claim the title.

The parade will start from Parliament at midday and the route will take in Lambton Quay, Willis St and Mercer St, and end in Civic Square.
