Christchurch has a poem that only reveals itself when it rains.

It's stencilled onto a laneway using an invisible spray that can only be seen when the area is wet.

Christchurch Regeneration Minister Nicky Wagner opened the Mollett Street Block of the city's South Frame on Monday where the poem is sited.

A Promise, written by Burnside High School student Samantha Jory-Smart, references the traditional Maori proverb behind Matai Common - the name of the gathering place in South Frame.
