Rare praise for Inland Revenue

NZ Newswire logoNZ Newswire 23/11/2016

Inland Revenue, which isn't often thanked for what it does, has won praise from Federated Farmers for giving its members a break.

"Well done IRD for telling people to look after themselves and their families first and foremost, rather than worrying about their tax obligations," said federation president William Rolleston.

"The tax initiatives, along with other support measures, will give people including farmers some much needed peace of mind."

IRD is waiving interest when someone can't pay on time and has announced discretionary measures for farmers and fishers significantly affected by the earthquake.
