So far four people have appeared in court after police found meth worth almost $500 million in a campervan and buried in sand dunes in the Far North.

Locals tipped police off about suspicious behaviour and boats being launched from 90 Mile Beach.

Two men aged 25 and 26 were arrested in Auckland on Friday and charged with importing and possessing a class A drug and participating in an organised criminal group.

The 25-year-old is also charged with money laundering.

The two were to appear in the Manukau District Court on Saturday.
