Reds embrace A-League GF heat: Galekovic

NZ NewswireNZ Newswire 30/04/2016 Steve Larkin

Captain Eugene Galekovic says Adelaide United have been playing a grand final every week for the past three months - so what's one more?

Galekovic's Reds tackle Western Sydney in Sunday's A-League grand final having risen from bottom and winless after eight rounds to take the Premiers Plate.

And Galekovic believes that surge stands his side in good stead for the decider.

"What has helped us this year is the last three months have probably been our grand finals - we had to win every game to be where we are right now," he told reporters on Saturday.

"We play one game at a time and every game we had to win ... and this is no different.

"It's the last game of the season. We have prepared well, just like all the other games, and we're going in with a lot of momentum."

United enter the finale with 15 wins, four draws and just the solitary loss in their past 20 games.

And Galekovic said his troops were embracing the hype and pressures of performing in front of a 50,000-strong crowd at Adelaide Oval.

"Everywhere you walk now, everyone is wishing you luck and everyone is jumping on which is a good sign," he said.

"To have 50,000 there tomorrow just shows how strong this code is in the state and how passionate they are going to be tomorrow.

"There is a lot of stuff going on this week but we have to embrace it and make sure mentally we're ready and good to go - and we'll be coming out guns blazing."
