Winston Reid's groin injury may have brought the curtain down on his English Premier League season.

All Whites captain Reid was ruled out of the twin World Cup qualifying internationals against Fiji after hobbling out of West Ham's loss to Leicester City over the weekend.

The club confirmed the injury is a serious one which will sideline the influential central defender for at least a month. It could even sideline for the rest of a Premier League season which ends in mid-May.

Jack Sullivan, the son of West Ham joint-owner David Sullivan, tweeted an injury update for several players including Reid's medical assessment.

"Reid scan later this week, but at least 4-6 weeks and might be longer."

The All Whites will hope the 28-year-old is fully recovered for the Confederations Cup tournament in Russia beginning in mid-June.

Mid-table West Ham suffered three injury blows in the Leicester match.

Spanish midfielder Pedro Obiang looks set to miss the rest of the season with an ankle injury while winger Michail Antonio suffered hamstring damage which forced him to withdraw from the England squad to face Germany and Lithuania.
