Remuera murder accused faces more charges

The man accused of murdering Auckland mother of two Joanne Pert in Remuera has also been charged with a series of crimes, including two indecent assaults, in the hours before and after her death.

Mt Roskill man Tevita Mafi Filo, 24, is charged with killing 41-year-old Ms Pert on the morning of January 7 while she was walking in the top-end Auckland suburb.

It can now be published Filo also faces 12 other charges, including two indecent assaults, unlawfully entering a variety of properties around Auckland, possessing a weapon in public and burglaries around the city. 

The charges related to alleged offences from the day before and the day of Ms Pert's death.

Publication of the full list of charges had earlier been suppressed but that restriction was dropped by Justice Graham Lang in the High Court at Auckland on Thursday.

The full details of the alleged offences remain suppressed.

Ms Pert's body was found on the lawn of a house on Remuera's Shore Road.

Later that day Filo handed himself in to police and turned over a weapon.

A four-week trial has been scheduled for November and Filo will appear again in court in August.
