Rio-bound Gasson to swim at Oceania champs

NZ NewswireNZ Newswire 17/06/2016

Rio-bound Helena Gasson will head a 31-strong New Zealand team at the Oceania swimming championships in Fiji.

The butterfly specialist will use the championships as competition preparation for the Olympics in August.

Gasson is the only member of the eight-strong New Zealand Olympic swim squad heading to Suva.

The team for the meet, which begins on Monday, includes two-time world junior champion Gabrielle Fa'amausili and world junior finalist Wilrich Coetzee.

New Zealand edged Australia 21 wins to 19 at the last Oceania championships in Auckland two years ago.
