Riverton baby murder accused in court

NZ NewswireNZ Newswire 21/07/2016

A man charged with murdering a baby in Southland more than two years ago has kept his name secret for the time being.

The 43-year-old appeared in the High Court at Hamilton on Friday after being arrested in Huntly.

His lawyer lodged an appeal against him being named, which means he will keep name suppression until at least his next appearance, which will be in Invercargill next month.

The three-month-old baby girl died in Auckland's Starship Hospital in January 2014, two days after suffering serious injuries at Riverton, west of Invercargill.
