Robinson named NZ Paralympics flag bearer

Javelin thrower Holly Robinson have been named New Zealand flag bearer for the Rio Paralympics.

Robinson will lead the New Zealand team into Maracana Stadium on Thursday morning (NZT), preceding 11 days of competition.

The 21-year-old from Hokitika is ranked first in her discipline, the women's javelin F46.

She has competed internationally since the age of 12 and placed seventh at the 2012 London Paralympics.

"I am so excited to lead the team and to know that all our supporters, especially my family, are watching us will make the honour extraordinarily special," she said.
