Derrick Rose scored 30 points as the New York Knicks beat the Boston Celtics 117-106 to record only their third win in the last 14 NBA games.

Isaiah Thomas made 39 points for the Celtics and Jae Crowder weighed in with 21 but Boston slipped to a surprise fourth defeat in their last 17 outings.

Jaylen Brown made two free-throws with just under eight minutes remaining to bring the Celtics to within a point, but Justin Holiday and Courtney Lee made three-pointers in an 8-0 spurt as the Knicks surged clear again.

James Harden continued his excellent recent form with 38 points in the Houston Rockets' 111-92 win over the Milwaukee Bucks.

Harden had scored 40 points in a losing cause as he registered his 13th triple-double of the season against the Miami Heat on Tuesday, but was always likely to be on the winning side once the Rockets went 30-12 in the second quarter.

The Washington Wizards secured a 13th consecutive home win as they ran out 104-101 winners against the Memphis Grizzlies.

John Wall scored the decisive points late as he finished with 25 on the night, while James Ennis III missed a three-point effort on the buzzer which would have taken the game to overtime.

Washington led by 19 points at one stage in the first half but resisted the Grizzlies' comeback - thanks in part to 25 points from Otto Porter Junior.

Atlantic Division leaders the Toronto Raptors were beaten 94-89 by the Philadelphia 76ers.

Joel Embiid scored 26 points and Ersan Ilyasova contributed 18 as Philadelphia registered a seventh win in nine games.

DeMar DeRozan scored 25 and Kyle Lowry 24 in a losing cause for Toronto.

The Charlotte Hornets gained a first win in six games with a 107-85 victory over the Portland Trail Blazers, with Kemba Walker scoring 23 points.

Anthony Davis contributed 21 points and 14 rebounds as the New Orleans Pelicans beat the Orlando Magic 118-98 and the Detroit Pistons overcame the Atlanta Hawks 118-95.
