Adam Jowsey © Facebook/Adam Jowsey Adam Jowsey Massey University club rugby player Adam Jowsey has been banned for two years after admitting two anti-doping violations.

Jowsey admitted possessing and using clenbuterol, a prohibited anabolic agent, saying he had ordered the drug to help as a dietary measure.

A New Zealand Rugby judicial committee accepted Jowsey didn't use the drug for performance-enhancing reasons, and didn't know it was on the prohibited list when he ordered it.

This meant the four-year period of ineligibility he faced was reduced to 2 years.

However, he had been careless in failing to make any further inquiries about clenbuterol before ordering and using it.
