Rutherford a match-winner for Derbyshire

NZ NewswireNZ Newswire 22/07/2016

In-form New Zealand opener Hamish Rutherford cracked a swift 64 for Derbyshire in a 29-run win over Worcestershire to keep them on track for a place in the English county Twenty20 championship last eight.

Rutherford's 38-ball knock featured four sixes as the home side compiled 192-5, also boosted by a late 22 off 14 from Black Caps allrounder Jimmy Neesham.

Worcestershire were dismissed for 163, with Neesham taking 1-21 off three overs, the game's most miserly figures.

Sixteen-Test opener Rutherford has passed 25 in seven of his last eight innings for Derbyshire.

He has shown a liking for Worcestershire's bowling, scoring a century off them in the 50-over championship.
