Unwanted Black Caps allrounder Jesse Ryder has completed a memorable week in county cricket with a match-winning century for Essex.

Ryder struck 100 off 110 balls in a five-wicket win over Sussex in Hove, a day after opening their one-day championship campaign with 71 in a narrow defeat of Hampshire. On Wednesday he smacked 42 off 23 balls in a Twenty20 win over Glamorgan.

After Sussex posted 271, Ryder scored his first 50 off a relatively sedate 71 balls before accelerating in an innings which featured six fours and three sixes.

He was yorked by England international Chris Jordan in the 48th over before Essex went on to reach 275-5 with six balls to spare.
