NZ NewswireNZ Newswire 15/06/2016

Jesse Ryder's bright form for English county one-day leaders Essex has continued with a half-century against Kent.

The unwanted Black Caps allrounder scored 50 off 62 balls as unbeaten Essex reached 289-5 in the final over at Chelmsford in response to Kent's 285-8.

Ryder has scored 233 runs at average of nearly 60 through the first four rounds, boosted by a century against Sussex.

Aucklander seamer Matthew Quinn took 3-50 for Essex, giving him nine scalps to be ranked second-equal on the championship wicket-taking list.

Elsewhere, Kane Williamson gained bragging rights over New Zealand teammate Martin Guptill as Yorkshire thrashed Lancashire by 242 runs under the Duckworth-Lewis method.

Black Caps skipper Williamson scored 40 in Yorkshire's 325-7 off 47 overs at Old Trafford before Guptill (45) was the only Lancashire player in double figures as they crumbed to 84 all out.
