Amy Satterthwaite completed a superb series in style as New Zealand thumped South Africa by 126 runs in the seventh and final match of their one-day international series.

The White Ferns won the series 5-2 after scoring 273-7 at Boland Park in Paarl and dismissing the hosts for 147 in the 46th over.

An aggressive Katey Martin top-scored with 81 off 72 balls, earning support through the middle stages from Satterthwaite (53) and Maddy Green (46).

Canterbury allrounder Satterthwaite comfortably scored the most runs in the series, with her 344 coming at an average of 68.8. She scored three half-centuries, adding to her unbeaten 72 in the warm-up against a selection team.

The 30-year-old was also the most effective bowler from either team, finishing with 11 wickets. That was level with South African speedster Ayabonga Khaka but Satterthwaite's scalps came at the better average of 15.72.

Her offspin helped run through the tail on Monday, taking 2-15 to back up the earlier efforts of legspinner Erin Bermingham (3-18) and pace bowler Lea Tahuhu (2-36).

Nobody scored more than 22 for South Africa, who won the second and sixth games of the series.

New Zealand have two weeks to prepare for a home series against Pakistan comprising five ODIs and a Twenty20 international.
