The search for jogger Kim Bambus, missing since telling friends on Friday that she was going for a run in Piha, in west Auckland, has been suspended for the day.

Detective Inspector Hayden Mander says the search will resume on Tuesday morning.

On Monday, inflatable surf lifesaving boats and the police Eagle helicopter conducted further sweeps of the coastline, but there has been no sign of the 21-year-old.

About 22 police search and rescue and LandSAR members also searched off-track in and around Log Race Road and Ahu Ahu Track, and near Mercer Bay.

Ms Bambus' car, a yellow Hyundai Getz, registration CWW418, was found on Log Race Road at the entrance to Ahu Ahu Track.

Ms Bambus was wearing a dark coloured jacket, pink exercise top, black shorts and black and white Nike shoes when last seen.

Her mother and father are helping with the search.
