A skydiver has been injured in a bad landing northwest of Auckland, just days after two others were hurt in an incident in Queenstown.

A man had landed badly and hurt his back during a skydive in Parakai at about 11.30am on Tuesday, a police spokeswoman said.

She said there were no problems with equipment during the landing.

The man has been taken to hospital with moderate injuries.

The incident comes after Sasa Jojic and Sasa Ljaskevic, originally from Serbia, were both seriously hurt during a tandem training jump near Queenstown on Saturday morning.

They were flown to Dunedin Hospital and remain there in stable conditions.

The Civil Aviation Authority is investigating the incident.

Mr Jojic is dive company NZONE Skydive's operations manager.

He has made more than 29,000 skydives and is a double Yugoslavian champion with a record five years on his home country's skydiving team, according to the company's website.
