New Zealand driver Brendon Hartley's Porsche team have won a second successive race in the World Endurance Championship to boost their title defence.

Hartley, Australian Mark Webber and German Timo Bernhard won the inaugural 6 Hours of Mexico race in Mexico City to follow their win in Germany in July.

After a slow start to the nine-leg series, they have climbed to fifth through five rounds heading into the next event in Texas in two weeks.

Another Porsche team, comprising Marc Lieb, Neel Jani and Romain Dumas, are runaway leaders although they could only manage fourth on Saturday.

Hartley took the first leg, starting fourth on the grid, and his car made steady headway as their rivals battled mechanical issues and to find consistent speed.

Combinations from Audi and Toyota were second and third respectively.
