A second police officer has been arrested and charged in relation to an armed robbery in Tonga last month.

The 23-year-old man has been charged with conspiracy to commit robbery and will appear in court next Tuesday.

Last month, another officer and an accomplice were charged with the armed robbery of a shopkeeper at Ma'ufanga.

At the time of the first arrests, the police commissioner, Stephen Caldwell, said the allegations were extremely concerning but the arrests showed that no one was above the law.

The investigation into the robbery continues.
