Sexual assault by man dressed as woman

NZ NewswireNZ Newswire 1/07/2016

A man dressed as a woman allegedly sexually assaulted a man following the rugby Test in Dunedin last weekend, police say.

The attacker was dressed as a woman, and was carrying a jacket and a handbag, but was believed to be a male Maori or Polynesian of medium-to-athletic build, with long dark hair, police said.

The attack took place at about 5.30am last Sunday in the area of the Captain Cook Hotel and the Rob Roy Dairy and both the victim and the offender had walked from the Octagon along George Street.

Police want to hear from anyone who may have seen anything.

It's one of two attacks that morning in Dunedin police have been seeking information about.

They say an arrest may be imminent in the second, which was a violent assault, in the same area of Dunedin.
