State Highway 1 in Northland has reopened after two separate crashes.

One truck crashed on a stretch of State Highway 1 in Northland around 9am on Thursday, after it was earlier blocked when a truck rolled.

The section of the major motorway at Brynderwyn - between Auckland and Whangarei - was blocked again after a truck carrying hazardous material went off the road at 9am.

The crash has closed the road from Woodleigh Lane and Bream Tail Road, although an alternative route was available, police said.

It came just after police had partially reopened the strip of SH1 after a truck rolled there at 4am.

The driver of the truck received moderate injuries in that crash and a crane was being brought in to move the vehicle.
