Sharks coach cops fine for TMO rant

NZ NewswireNZ Newswire 5/04/2016

Sharks coach Gary Gold has been slapped with a nearly $17,00 fine after he unloaded a rant at the television match official during his side's loss to the Crusaders last month.

Gold admitted breaking Sanzaar rules during the 19-14 loss in Durban, his side's first defeat of the season, when he twice approached the Johan Greeff during the second half.

The charges included using crude and insulting language to the match official.

Gold had unreservedly apologised to Greeff, and agreed that this type of behaviour has no place in the game, SANZAAR's Nigel Hampton says.

His fines totalled $A15,000 ($NZ16,759) and he must also pay $A1000 in costs.

A fine of $A2500 was suspended for 12 months.
