Short sharp quake in central North Island

Central New Zealand was jolted by a short sharp quake on Friday afternoon.

The quake at 3.40pm was a magnitude 4.6, according to GeoNet.

The centre was located 20km south-east of Seddon at a depth of 27km.

Nearly 1000 people registered that they felt it.

It followed a magnitude 4.1 quake centred 15km north of Masterton at 2.30pm.
