Sitak into Istanbul quarter-finals

Kiwi Artem Sitak and American Nicholas Monroe have been pushed to the limit in reaching the doubles quarter-finals at the Istanbul Open.

The top seeds at the ATP tournament prevailed 6-2 6-7 10-8 over Johan Brunstrom (Sweden) and Matt Reid (Australia) to set up a showdown in the last eight against Antonio Sancic (Croatia) and Adil Shamasdin (Canada).

Elsewhere, New Zealand's Marcus Daniell and Brazilian partner Marcelo Demoliner went down in straight sets to Indians Purav Raja and Divij Sharan in the first round of the Estoril Open in Portugal.

Kiwi Michael Venus and American Ryan Harrison had already qualified for the quarter-finals at the same tournament.
