New Zealand's Artem Sitak has emerged victorious in a tense tiebreaker to reach the doubles quarter-finals at an ATP event in Buenos Aires.

Sitak and American partner Nicholas Monroe upset fourth seeds Julio Peralta (Chile) and Horacio Zeballos (Argentina) 6-2 5-7 10-8 at the clay court Argentina Open.

Their next opponents are Italians Simone Bolelli and Fabio Fognini.

The news was bleaker for Kiwi Marcus Daniell and Brazilian partner Marcelo Demoliner, who were forced to pull out early in their opening match.

It is unclear which of the pair was injured, allowing Santiago Gonzalez (Mexico) and David Marrero (Spain) to advance.

A third Kiwi in ATP action this week is Michael Venus, who will contest the Memphis Open with regular Swedish partner Robert Lindstedt.
