Eek! It’s not clear what type of snake it was or whether it was venomous.

Passengers on an Aeromexico from Torreón to Mexico City on Sunday were startled by a bright green snake dropping out of one of the luggage bins.

The airline said in a statement it did not know how exactly the snake got into the cabin, but that “measures have been taken to avoid such incidents in the future.”

Passenger Indalecio Medina caught the incident on video and posted it to his Twitter account.

He joked the snake was something of a bonus because it gave his plane priority landing upon arrival. The airline later confirmed that security protocols “due to the presence of the animal” did indeed allow the plane to land with haste.
