Former Central Pulse and Magic midcourter Frances Solia will coach Samoa leading into the 2019 Netball World Cup in Liverpool.

Solia, who also captained Samoa, retired from elite netball in 2012 and has since held roles with Netball Central, including assistant coach to Robyn Broughton at the Pulse in the former trans-Tasman netball league.

Solia, 40, said the appointment was an honour.

"It's been my dream that once I retired I would give back to my country," she said.

"We are at a rebuilding phase right now, and this is an exciting challenge. With World Cup in 2019 there is plenty of work to be done."
