Two New Zealand crews are ensconced in the top three after the first day of sailing at the youth world championships in Auckland.

Laser Radial sailor George Gautrey is third after placing sixth and second.

Eight Kiwis crews are contesting the five-day regatta.

Others in the top 10 are the 420 girls crew of twins Courtney and Brianna Reynolds-Smith (sixth), 29er girls Greta and Kate Stewart (seventh) and RS:X boys hopeful Patrick Haybittle (sixth).
