© NZ Police Less than 90 minutes after issuing a plea for sightings of a missing south Auckland boy who could be having health problems, police say he has turned up of his own accord.

A statement just before midday on Friday said 12-year-old BJ Thorner-Harrison left his care facility in Manurewa on Christmas Day and hadn't been seen since.

He had just spent three days in hospital being treated for an infection which needed ongoing medication and care and there were fears for his welfare.

Just after 1pm police issued another statement saying the search was over.

"BJ has just returned to the facility in Manurewa and is thought to be in good health," a spokeswoman said.
