Reinga Bloxham will coach the Southern Steel in next year's New Zealand domestic netball league.

Bloxham served her apprenticeship as assistant coach to first Janine Southby and then Noeline Taurua in the now-defunct trans-Tasman league.

A former Southern Sting representative, Bloxham says she's looking forward to taking over the top job.

"It's an absolute privilege to coach this franchise," she said.

"We look after our own here and try to develop our own which is fantastic."

The Steel have re-signed the bulk of this season's minor premiership-winning squad, including Jamaican shooter Jhaniele Fowler-Reid and Silver Ferns Shannon Francois, Te Paea Selby-Rickit, Jane Watson and Gina Crampton.
