Spate of indecent assaults prompt hotline

NZ NewswireNZ Newswire 27/04/2016

A hotline has been set up by police after a spate of indecent assaults in Onehunga.

They say at least 11 attacks have been carried out on female walkers or runners since October last year and believe a teenager is responsible.

The victims have been approached from behind an indecently assault by a Maori or Pacific Island boy aged between 12-16.

"Behaviour such as this in a young person is worrying, and we want to not only apprehend this person to obviously stop any more indecent assaults, but we also need to get him help," said Detective Constable Patrick Whitiora.

The last attack was on March 23 and they have mostly taken place in the area around the Fergusson Domain.

Police want people to contact 0800 748 244 if they think they know who the offender is.
