Flight processing at Auckland Airport's international terminal has resumed after people were evacuated from part of the building because of flooding from a sprinkler.

An airport spokesman says the flooding has been contained and the evacuation lasted less than an hour.

There were delays to one or two flights and passengers were advised to contact their airlines for information.

Fire Service spokesman Jaren Phillips said the sprinkler went off in the Burger King outlet causing flooding on two levels.

Mr Phillips said the service was alerted at 7.10pm, five crews attended and they were helping with the clean-up.
