Top-ranked Kiwi singles player Statham, ranked 385th, beat Marcus Daniell 6-4 7-6, winning the tiebreaker 7-3.

Both players will represent New Zealand in the Asia Oceania Davis Cup tie against South Korea in Auckland next week.

Daniell is likely to feature in the doubles, having risen to a career-high 42nd in the world rankings.

Israel's Julia Glushko cruised to the women's title, justifying her firm favouritism.

The world No.250, who has been ranked inside the top-80, outclassed New Zealand second seed Leela Beattie 6-0 6-2.
