Police are launching a new online tool which will allow the public to access police crime data.

The data, which will be available from November 30, will make it easier for people to access, analyse and understand data that police hold about crime.

"The new, interactive tool that will provide the public with access to a range of easily accessible information about victims, offenders and crime trends," said Deputy Chief Executive for Strategy, Mark Evans.

The information was previously available on the Statistics NZ website, who've been working with police since early 2015 to develop the new tool.
