Southern Steel have completed their roster for next year's inaugural elite netball league by signing youngsters Abby Erwood and Jamie Hume.

The duo are part of the New Zealand's 22-strong under-21 squad which will be reduced to 12 for the World Youth Cup in Botswana in July.

Erwood, a 19-year-old defender, made her Steel debut in the trans-Tasman league's New Zealand conference final against the Magic while Hume's performance in the shooting circle for Netball South earned her a Silver Ferns trial and a spot in the New Zealand A team.

The pair join a settled Steel roster led by captain Wendy Frew and including Silver Ferns Shannon Francois, Te Paea Selby-Rickit and Jane Watson. Jamaican international Jhaniele Fowler-Reid also returns, with NZ A midcourter Gina Crampton, national under-21 shooter Jennifer O'Connell and defender Te Huinga Reo Selby-Rickit completing the 10-strong squad.
