Steven Adams' Thunder routed by Spurs

NZ NewswireNZ Newswire 1/05/2016

New Zealand centre Steven Adams was among the Oklahoma City Thunder's better performers in a disastrous start to their NBA Western Conference semi-final series against the San Antonio Spurs.

Adams scored nine points and pulled down a game-high 10 rebounds in the Thunder's 124-92 loss in San Antonio.

His accomplished opposite Tim Duncan managed just eight points and two rebounds but it was one of the few areas in which the visitors held an advantage.

The second-ranked Spurs had powered 73-40 ahead by halftime, boosted by 38 points to LaMarcus Aldridge.

Oklahoma City's two key scorers, Kevin Durant and Russell Westwood both had off-nights, tallying 16 and 14 points respectively.

Game two in the best-of-seven series is on Tuesday.
