Coach Tony Readings has named a New Zealand A side featuring a host of first-choice Football Ferns players to host Thailand in two internationals in Auckland.

New Zealand captain Abby Erceg is one of eight players in the 26-woman squad who played at the Rio Olympics.

The friendlies against 32nd-ranked Thailand on December 17 and 20 are good opportunity to continue long-range building towards the 2019 World Cup and 2020 Tokyo Olympics, Readings said.

"We are going to be looking at players over the next three to four years who we think will help us be successful at those events.

"Some of them will be players who are currently in the squad and others will come from the age-group players who want to push the senior players out."

Erceg, Anna Green and Rosie White will come home from their overseas clubs while Football Ferns regulars Annalie Longo, Meikayla Moore, CJ Bott, Jasmine Pereira, Paige Satchell and Victoria Esson are also included.
