Strong winds cause problems in Auckland

NZ Newswire logoNZ Newswire 26/08/2016

High winds are bringing power lines and trees down in parts of Auckland.

Power lines are down in Asquith Ave in Mt Albert, Miller St in Pt Chevalier and Royal Rd in Massey and these roads are closed, the Fire Service says.

Winds are gusting in places up to 90km/h, Civil Defence Auckland says.

Emergency services have also been dealing with a few downed trees and a yacht broken away from its moorings.

The windy weather comes after heavy rain in the city.

Scenic Drive at Titirangi has reopened after being blocked by a slip.
