New Zealand golfer Danny Lee's struggles on the US PGA Tour have continued after missing the cut in Massachusetts.

Lee's closing holes let him down as he followed his opening one-under 70 with a 73 on Saturday at the Deutsche Bank Championship to miss the cut by two strokes.

The Kiwi No.1 has failed to reach round three at his last three Tour events since placing 27th at the Rio Olympics.

He has placed outside the top-30 in his eight successive PGA starts, reducing his world ranking to 51st and his place on the Tour's points standings to a projected 93rd.

The 26-year-old looked on course to make the cut after playing the back nine of the TPC Boston course in one-under but bogeys on the first, second and fourth holes proved costly.
