A man who admitted killing his science student partner near Massey University's Palmerston North campus is set to be sentenced in the High Court at Wellington on Friday.

Jesse Ferris-Bromley was originally charged with murder after the beaten body of his girlfriend Virginia Ford, 20, was found in an apartment near the university in March last year.

However, just before his trial was set to begin, the Crown withdrew the murder charge and Ferris-Bromley admitted to manslaughter and two counts of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
