Bavaria's top security official says the suicide bomber who injured 15 people in Ansbach pledged allegiance to Islamic State leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.

The suicide bomber who injured 15 people in southern Germany at the weekend vowed to commit a terrorist attack in Germany in footage found on his mobile phone, Bavaria's top security official says.

The footage also showed the man, identified as a rejected Syrian asylum seeker, pledging allegiance to Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the head of the self-declared caliphate of the Islamic State, Bavarian Interior Minister Joachim Herrmann said on Monday.

According to Herrmann, the man said the attack was revenge because Germany had killed Muslims. A translation of the footage showed that he committed the attack in the name of Allah.

The attack in Ansbach, Germany, only killed the bomber.

It comes after a week that has seen four violent attacks in the country, three of them allegedly perpetrated by recently arrived asylum seekers.
