A wanted, suspected rapist took a 7-year-old girl and several other people hostage inside a Baltimore Burger King Sunday, police said.

Two of the three adult captives was released hours into the standoff — but the child and two more people remain trapped inside the burger joint with the gunman, officials said.

Negotiators are on the scene working to free the remaining hostages, police spokesman T.J. Smith said at a press conference.

“We just want to end this situation peacefully for everybody involved,” Smith said.

The gunman, who has not been identified, is wanted in connection to a rape that happened within the last two days, police said.

Officers spotted the suspect driving Sunday around 11 a.m. and tried to pull him over, but he sped off and fled from cops.

After a short police chase, the man crashed into another driver. He jumped out of his wrecked car with a gun in his hand and ran into the Burger King, police said. The other motorist was treated for minor injuries after the crash.

Around 2:30 p.m., several hours into the tense hostage situation, one of the three adults was released, local media reported. A second adult hostage was released after that, police announced around 4 p.m.

This is a developing story. Please check back for updates.
