Swiss loan stint ends for Marco Rojas

NZ NewswireNZ Newswire 26/05/2016

New Zealand winger Marco Rojas will return to his VfB Stuttgart club in Germany next season after completing an 18-month loan stint in Switzerland.

FC Thun announced Rojas had played his 45th and last game across all competitions for the Swiss premier league club when he came off the bench in a 3-0 loss to BSC Young Boys on Wednesday.

It was the second loan deal for Rojas, who spent four months with second-tier German outfit Greuther Furth in late 2014, a year after signing a four-year contract with VfB Stuttgart.

Former A-League standout Rojas, 24, may find himself back in the second division next season after VfB Stuttgart were relegated from the just-completed Bundesliga. He is yet to play for their top team.

The 23-cap international will join the All Whites in Port Moresby for the Nations Cup tournament beginning on Saturday.
