Sydney FC routine blessing for Bondi boys

So seriously are Sydney FC taking their pre-match routine that the team have opted against staying in a hotel the night before the A-League grand final.

And that suits the Sky Blues' Bondi clan just fine.

Midfielder Josh Brillante and defenders Rhyan Grant and Seb Ryall flat together in the beachside suburb.

It will be business as usual on Saturday night, when sleeping shouldn't be an issue given the trio are tucked away on a quiet street.

"Nothing planned at the minute for the night before," Grant said.

"We'll probably just have a laugh and muck around at home, obviously you want to keep your mind off it.

"Probably watch a movie or play a bit of PlayStation and have a laugh."

Last season the Sky Blues stayed together in a hotel the night before home games but changed that approach this campaign, a move the players have felt lightens the pressure.

In that vein, grand final morning will be the same as any other matchday morning for relaxed right-back Grant, who will be part of Sydney's starting XI alongside Brillante.

"I'll get up and go for a dip," he said.

"It's a bit colder now but I'll have a swim, have a coffee and read the paper.

"And if there's some sun, sit in the sun for a little bit and just enjoy it.

"But nothing too strenuous, nothing too different."

Ryall has been promoted to the Sky Blues squad and, given Bernie Ibini's omission through injury, is a chance of a bench spot for the first time since hurting his hamstring in January.
