Sydney FC v Perth: key match-ups

NZN 28/04/2017 Emma Kemp

DIEGO CASTRO v RHYAN GRANT

If Sydney can clamp down on Perth's main man Castro they'll go a long way towards blunting Glory as a whole. It's a job likely to be spread around somewhat given the Spanish maestro's propensity to roam, but Grant can expect to deal with him most. The recent Socceroos call-up has the pace to track back quickly - and he'll need it.

BOBO v DINO DJULBIC

Sydney's Brazilian top-scorer versus the centre-back willing to put his body on the line for every contest. Djulbic was nothing short of Herculean against Melbourne City last weekend, a gritty man-of-the-match display sure to intimidate most strikers. But Bobo is no pushover, battle-hardened from nine years playing in Turkey and ready to improve on his 15-goal tally.

ANDY KEOGH/ADAM TAGGART v ALEX WILKINSON/JORDY BUIJS

Perth's two-pronged strike force have 24 goals between them, with Castro as service. It's enough to make any central-defensive pairing shiver. Good thing Sydney have perhaps the most composed in the league. Wilkinson is a rock and head marshaller of a defence that's conceded an A-League record low 12 goals all season. His Dutch partner Buijs is equally vocal and skilled with the dead ball.
