MELBOURNE, Australia — The Sydney Swans advanced to the preliminary final in the Australian Football League with an 18.10 (118) to 12.10 (82) win on Saturday over the Adelaide Crows.

Lance Franklin and Tom Papley kicked four goals each and Ben McGlynn added three to lead the Swans, who will play Geelong next Friday. The winner of that match will advance to the grand final on Oct. 1 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

On Friday, the Western Bulldogs ended Hawthorn's quest for four straight AFL titles with a 23-point win before 87,823 spectators at the MCG.

The Bulldogs play Great Western Sydney next Saturday. The winner of that match plays the Geelong-Sydney winner in the grand final.
