Stars including James Corden and Piers Morgan have defended Kim Kardashian after she was mocked online for being robbed at gunpoint in Paris.

The reality TV star was accosted by masked men dressed as police officers who reportedly stole jewellery worth several million dollars.

Corden wrote on Twitter: "People making jokes about @KimKardashian tonight would do well to remember that she's a mother, a daughter, a wife, a friend. Be nice or shut up."

A spokeswoman for Kardashian said the TV star "is badly shaken but physically unharmed" after her ordeal on Sunday night, but offered no other details.

Some Twitter users wrote that they thought the robbery was funny or fodder for her TV show.

Good Morning Britain presenter Morgan said: "Feel very sorry for @KimKardashian. Must have been a terrifying experience" while model Chrissy Teigen, who is married to singer John Legend, tweeted: "Some s*** just isn't funny. I see you trying, but it isn't."

She added: "Fame is interesting. Celebs are supposed to love you guys while also knowing you'd make a meme of our dead bodies to get retweets."
