All Whites attacking midfielder Cam Howieson is attempting to revive his career by leaving Europe to play for Team Wellington in the New Zealand domestic league.

Howieson, 21, has played nine times for his country, making his debut as a substitute aged 17 against El Salvador in 2012.

He attended the 2012 London Olympics and was the youngest-ever Kiwi to play in the English Football League, for Burnley at age 17.

Fifteen appearances for Scottish Championship side St Mirren followed last season before he found himself without a contract.

He wants to make a significant contribution for the defending champions and showcase his talent.

"I feel there isn't any better place in New Zealand to do so than Wellington," he said.

"The chance to come home and play was a big decision in me moving. To be able to play in front of my family that I've been away from for five-plus years is something I look forward to"

The Blenheim-born playmaker said representing the All Whites again is a major goal, having not done so for two years.
